Back in November, we experimented with an Extreme Trash the Dress concept. Since our initial post, the response has been overwhelming – so much that we wanted to post a follow-up to answer some questions, shed some light on what happened behind the scenes, as well as share a previously unreleased video from the session. As always, we cannot thank you enough for your comments and support. If you have not seen the micro-site, click here to check it out.

The Couple, The Location, and Experience

Since the session was originally released back in November, there have been countless posts from individuals inquiring about the couple, the location, their intentions, etc. Hopefully this answers a lot of the questions that have been asked time and time again.

Is the couple featured in the video a real couple?
Yes, Phil and Nicole are two dear friends of ours who were married in October of 2009. When they asked us to work with them on a Trash the Dress session we were honored.

Did she really burn her wedding dress?
Yes. Not that it was bad luck, but she also burned her veil and shoes while she was at it. Here is a visual for all the non-believers.

What was with the gun scene?
The gun scene was spontaneous. When we setup the shot and saw the test footage it reminded us of something straight out of a Tarantino film, so we ran with it. We couldn’t be happier with the end result.

Did anything creepy happen at the location?
There were two strange occurrences that happened during the shoot. The first was when a father, mother, and two sons were checking out a cottage that they use to vacation at years ago. While the father was standing on the porch, a piece of debris flew out the window and hit him in the back of the neck as if it was thrown at him. No one was near him at the time – and it definitely freaked him out (we could tell because he was screaming like a girl). The second one happened later in the day when we were shooting in front of another cottage. Phil was on the front porch and Nicole was in the yard. All of a sudden glass shattered inside the house, as if someone was throwing a glass object toward the front door. Clearly, no one was inside the house or anywhere in the vicinity.

Is the location haunted? We will leave that one up to the ghost hunters. Overall the place is condemned, remote, and definitely plays tricks on your mind.

Unreleased Video

We are super excited to share with you this previously unreleased video from the session. A HUGE thanks to Jeff Manfredonia of Maf Life Films for making the concept come to life! Don’t forget to check out his website!

Location Scouting Images

Here are some images from when we were scouting the location. At one point, I (Michael) looked at Jeff and said – “umm, this place is shady enough, but what makes it worse is that today is Halloween”.

Again, a huge thanks to Phil, Nicole, Jeff, and Tina for making this possible!

What’s Next?

We can’t give away all of our secrets, but what we can tell you is that we are in the planning stages of a follow up to this session. Stay tuned. You’re in for a real treat.
