I had the pleasure of meeting Gillian, Geoff and their daughter Savannah 3 years ago when they booked their first family session. On to their wedding, to showers, birthday parties, etc I have captured so many special moments in their journey. I also have developed a close friendship with this family.

Last year Gillian lost her baby boy while she was 5 months pregnant. They even had a name picked out, Phoenix. It was so sad to hear this news. Three months after they lost Phoenix, they we were blessed with a beautiful miracle, a rainbow baby girl, who is due this August, right around Phoenix’s birthday. In case you haven’t heard of this term rainbow baby, it is defined as: A baby born shortly after the loss of a previous baby due to miscarriage, stillbirth, or death in infancy. This term is given to these special rainbow babies because a rainbow typically follows a storm, giving us hope of what’s to come.

Gillian and I teamed up for this maternity series at Hammonasset Beach State Park, to embrace their miracle rainbow baby. I had so much fun with this! Here are some faves from the evening.
